Microsoft’s new Microsoft 365 Business with Copilot bundles give SMBs with up to 300 users a simpler way to buy Microsoft 365 and Copilot together. For South West businesses with 10–100 employees, especially law firms, professional services, charities, healthcare providers and manufacturers, the key decision is whether to choose Business Standard with Copilot or Business Premium with Copilot.
For most regulated or security-conscious organisations, Business Premium with Copilot is the safer long-term option because it includes stronger security and device management features alongside Microsoft 365 Copilot.
What are the new Microsoft 365 Copilot bundles?
From 1 July 2026, Microsoft is making Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot and Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot broader SMB offerings. Microsoft’s UK pricing page lists Business Standard and Business Premium options with Copilot for organisations up to 300 users.
In simple terms, the bundles combine:
- Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, depending on plan
- Microsoft 365 Copilot
- Business-grade identity, admin and security controls
Which Copilot bundle is best for your business?
1. Choose Business Standard with Copilot if productivity is the main goal
This is usually best for businesses that mainly want to:
- Draft emails faster
- Summarise Teams meetings
- Create proposals and reports
- Analyse spreadsheets
- Improve day-to-day productivity
It may suit smaller professional services firms where the Microsoft environment is already well managed.
2. Choose Business Premium with Copilot if security matters
Business Premium is usually the better fit for:
- Law firms handling confidential client data
- Healthcare providers managing sensitive records
- Charities with trustee, donor or safeguarding information
- Manufacturers with operational, supplier or IP data
- Professional services firms with compliance requirements
Microsoft states that Business Premium includes advanced cyberthreat protection and device management capabilities.
A 5-step Copilot readiness framework for South West SMBs
Step 1: Review your current Microsoft 365 licences
Check whether users are on Business Basic, Standard, Premium or mixed plans. Many 10–100 employee organisations have licence sprawl, unused subscriptions or gaps in security coverage.
Step 2: Check your SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive permissions
Copilot uses your Microsoft 365 data. That means poor permissions can become a business risk. Before enabling Copilot, review who can access client files, HR folders, finance documents and legacy Teams sites.
Step 3: Decide who needs Copilot first
Start with 5–15 users in high-impact roles such as directors, operations, finance, HR, sales, client services or practice management.
Step 4: Train staff on safe AI use
Employees need to know how to write effective prompts, check AI outputs and avoid entering sensitive information into the wrong tools.
Step 5: Measure results after 30 days
Track practical outcomes such as:
- Time saved on meeting notes
- Faster proposal creation
- Reduced admin tasks
- Improved document quality
- Better internal knowledge sharing
Industry examples
A 35-person law firm in Bristol could use Copilot to summarise meetings, draft client updates and improve internal knowledge searches, while Business Premium helps strengthen security controls.
A 50-person manufacturer in Somerset could use Copilot for production reports, supplier emails, health and safety documents and standard operating procedures.
A 25-person charity in Gloucestershire could use Copilot to draft funding applications, board reports, policies and volunteer communications.
