We created a job scheduling application for Ashton Scaffolding to organise staff scheduling and site visits.

The Client

Ashton Scaffolding is one of the largest scaffolding companies in the South West and work with a wide variety of well-known and reputable commercial and domestic clients, such as Bristol City Council and Linden Homes.

The Customer Dilemma

Ashton Scaffolding have been using a whiteboard to organise staff scheduling and site visits for over 21 years.

Due to year-on-year growth, the method used to schedule the jobs became harder to organise and could no longer handle the number of resources needed to display. The old manual system consisted of using a whiteboard with a colour coded system. This would display a table with all the upcoming jobs booked in for the week ahead. One of the many disadvantages of this process is that employees who needed to use the whiteboard were constantly out on customers sites and so visual access was not possible.

What We Did

After a consultation with Ashton Scaffolding, we created a web-based job scheduler application to replace their whiteboard. We wanted to make the application as easy as possible to administer, but with some new additional functions to maximise their productivity. These functions include:

  • Real-time information and updates so staff can see if there are any changes.
  • Administrators can make amendments and updates to the schedule, as well as have access to overall staff management.
  • A weekly calendar view for displaying on an office monitor for all to see.

It was crucial to also make the application accessible from anywhere, whether that be in the office or on site.

How we helped

Ashton Scaffolding have seen the following benefits and productivity improvements:

  • Always-on solution
  • Available remotely
  • Improved staff productivity
  • Lower production costs
  • Easy to access
  • Simple and easy to use
  • Improved TOI (Transfer of Information)
  • Improved time management
  • More accurate billing
  • Greater profitability

What the Client Says

“Wanting to replace our outdated whiteboard that we use daily for Job Scheduling, I contacted Impact who already looked after our website and IT support. Impact understood my needs fully and developed the application that we now use daily and which I cannot be without. It has really helped the business automate an outdated process.” – Shaun Farmer, Director
